Subliminal messages have been tested in both audio and video
technologies. With both of these mediums you take a
subliminal suggestion; i.e. “I control my appetite” for example;
and you play it on an audiotape or videotape at accelerated
speeds the can only be interpreted by your subconscious.
So in fact what you have is a few milliseconds of a subliminal
message repeated over and over again.

On an audiotape, it's sometimes combined with sounds and/or
music. On videotape it is embedded into the background and
simply flashes the message during the regular video material
very quickly.

In the 1950’s the CIA reported a high success rate for
subliminal video. Advertising gurus tested short messages
about wanting more popcorn and soda during regular movies
and discovered a large increase in sales.

Experts on the subject contend that the subliminal power
comes from the ability of the subliminal messages to by-pass
the conscious mind and be picked up and utilized by the
subconscious mind. Today, there are claims of all sorts of
products that increase your subliminal perception with
repeated use.

Many companies are using subliminal message software, which
not only embeds the subliminal message into the audiotape,
but also includes a volume control mechanism so that you can
turn the sound way up and hear what the messages say before
using the tape.

Older subliminal software did not allow for the use of the
volume control. Therefore, people who bought the tapes had
to trust that the printed material that came along with the
tapes included the correct messages that were put onto the
tapes themselves.

Another advancement that has surfaced lately is the advent of
custom subliminal messages that you can make yourself. Many
experts agree, that the success rate jumps considerably higher
when you use your own voice on the tapes.

More recent studies are suggesting that although both audio and
video are effective, the human mind tends to convert video to
visualization more effectively. This stems from the fact that
we only consciously comprehend 5% of what we see. The rest we
comprehend in the subconscious. The subconscious is where we
generate visualization. Audio is less impressive in this category.

Whether it's audio or video, one thing is for certain, both have
proven to be effective. In any case, it is worth a investigation
before you select the modality that works best for you.
